The Lord God is my strength, and He will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and He will make me to walk upon mine high places. Habakkuk 3:19
God is so amazing! I am reorganizing my home study. While doing so, I came across a book that was given to me nearly 19 years ago. It’s a book of meditations by Warren W. Wiersbe, “The Bumps are What You Climb On.” I set it aside from the other hundreds of books (yes, I know I am a book worm.) that I have in my study not knowing that God was actually ordering my actions. I remember this book being one of my favorite resources of encouragement from which I would read and gain strength. No matter the chapter I would read, it said just what I needed for the moment.
Our incredible God aligned my rediscovery of this book at a time of my current pressing need. The first chapter is named after the title of the book, “The Bumps are What You Climb On.” At this present moment, I have some bumps and probably some boulders on my path. It’s tempting to kick against them which would only mean hurting myself. Or, I could take a detour knowing it would only impede my progress. Since the scenarios above are not an option, I have decided to use the bumps to hoist me to another spiritual level. No, the path is not smooth or easy, but if I climb upon each bump or boulder, I will strengthen my resolve and spiritual muscles.
I have learned from the vicissitudes of life that the smooth road might be less challenging, however, it isn’t very rewarding. When we take the undemanding route, we bypass some of the most beautiful life-transformative experiences.
Thank You, Father, for making the promise that you have given my angels charge over me to keep me from stumbling over the obstacles that I have to encounter. Because of You, my feet are steady, and my mind is agile while I am climbing what seems to be Mt. Everest. I know when I make it to the top and come to the end of the path, I will see a bright light that will be worth all of the difficulties and challenges I am facing.
Everyone has bumps and boulders on their path of life, when you are confronted with these life-challenges, do as the little boy told his sister, use the bumps to climb on.
Pray…
Lord, this path that I am climbing doesn’t seem like a path at all, it is so bumpy! Please give me the mindset and strength to lift my legs and continue to make progress on this path no matter how rough the journey becomes. Thank You for giving my angels charge over me to guard me in all of my ways.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
