“So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.” Matthew 14:29
I look for messages everywhere and in all situations. Yes, I found one in the declared number one Super Bowl 2019 commercial. I didn’t watch the Super Bowl, but I did watch the commercial several times. I thoroughly enjoyed it. In case you are wondering which one I am referring to, it’s the NFL 100th season banquet scene where Sam Gordon extends this invitation … “Want This? Come and Get It!”
These words remind me of some of the invitations that are extended to us by our heavenly Father.
- “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
- “Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Isaiah 55:1
- “Incline your ear, and come to Me. hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you—the sure mercies of David.” Isaiah 55:3
The players in the commercial didn’t think twice when Sam Gordon made the offer to “Come and Get It.” They charged, ducked and ran after that golden football as if their lives depended on retrieving it.
This is precisely the way the Lord wants us to go after what He offers us. What He offers is much more precious than a golden football, and our lives do depend on it.
So, let’s be like the NFL players when they are determined to win and also like Peter when Jesus extended him an invitation to “Come.” No hesitations. No questions. No doubts. No fears. They wanted it and went after it with gusto.
Do you want it? Do you want to be revived? Do you want to be refreshed? Do you want to be healed? Do you want to be delivered? Do you want what God is offering? Then, “Come and Get It!” It’s FREE!
Lord give me the kind of passion for what You have to offer that the NFL players have for football.
In Jesus’ Name
Amen

Thank you for this blog Apostle Crawford. It’s amazing how zealous we can be about things that have no eternal value. I’m asking the Lord to help me in 2019 to expel my energy (which is limited) on the things that REALLY matter! This blog is a reminder of how determined I must be to attain the things that God has for me. Wow! What an illustration of determination! I’m praying to press into the things God has for me in the same way! There will always be opposition but if we want it……we can have it!! (I love this song by Jakalyn Carr: It’s Yours! –
You are welcome Pastor Franks! Boy can we go after things that have no eternal value. Let’s press in even harder on the things of God. I am determined as well.
