But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31
When I was dealing with some frustrating and irritating circumstances a few years ago, the Lord spoke to me so plainly and said, “Rise Above It!” Actually, I was hoping that He would remove the circumstances. I’ve come to realize, that God will not rescue us from every annoying and pesky situation. God will leave some things in our lives to humble us and help us grow. Such was the case when Paul cried out to Him to remove the thorn in his flesh. After asking God three times to remove it, God succinctly announced, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Paul apparently accepted God’s admonition right away, because his immediate response was; “Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Paul’s choice was to have the power of God dwell in and upon him, even if it meant having to deal with an irritating weakness in his own flesh. He realized that God’s grace would enable him to rise above all troublesome and inconvenient things that he would have to encounter.
God’s power certainly works best when we are in a state of weakness. It’s that place of uncertainty; not knowing what to do or not having the ability to perform a certain task. God remembers how He made us (just weak dust balls of the earth) and He wants us to stay in our place, dependent on Him. Therefore, many times, He allows undesirable and worrisome things to be our constant companions. However, these things are never meant to harm us, but rather to elevate us to places where we would not ordinarily go without being coaxed.
Like Paul, God desires that we “Rise Above” the thorns that have been uniquely designed to humble and propel us to new heights in Him. Instead of trying to be reassigned from a hostile environment or a vexing individual, earnestly intercede on behalf of their souls and their need for deliverance. If God doesn’t change them, He will give you peace even in the midst of the chaos.
Eagles don’t waste time grappling with sparrows, robins and chickens. They spread their majestic wings and “Rise Above” them. God compares His children to eagles, not to other little pesky birds. If you are an eagle you have the ability to “Rise Above” any provoking thing that God has allowed to be aligned with your destiny. Remember, you are on a mission and you have an assignment to complete. Don’t allow the “little foxes” to sabotage your journey.
So, mount up your spiritual wings like the eagle and “Rise Above” the things that come to keep you static and in a state of frustration. “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).
Declare…
I am an eagle, therefore, I will “Rise Above” all aggravating and pesky things that are sent to derail me and my destiny. I will spread my wings and soar to great heights!
