“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.”
Romans 8:37 (KJV)
I am slowly checking items off my bucket list. I have visited many foreign countries, published books, made television appearances, and did many other delightful things that were on my list.
Sports have never been my thing. I don’t have a favorite NBA or NFL team. I do enjoy watching certain sports during the Olympic’s. Some of my favorites are women’s ice skating, gymnastics, and track. I also like the idea of boxing, believe it or not, and so did my dad.
I don’t know when boxing found its way on my list, but it did. Since I will be a septuagenarian soon, I decided it was time to put on my boxing gloves. Who knows, I might need the skill one day. While vacationing in the Florida Keys, I wandered into a gym that teaches women to box.
The trainer, a Bible enthusiast, taught me many things about boxing, but the one that resonated in my spirit was, “The more relaxed you are and the less tension you have in your arms and hands, the harder and more accurate your punch.”
I thought man, that’s the way it is with our spiritual walk. The more relaxed we are in God, trusting Him, and believing what He says, the more victorious we are on this Christian journey. The precepts God gave us to live by are truth and fail-proof. We will win the battle each time if we lighten up and move as He directs.
Another nugget the trainer dropped was, “Keep your eyes open and stay focused on what you are doing, but try to stump your opponent with fake moves.” The enemy is skilled at throwing punching to get us off-balanced. We confuse him when we remain calm and relaxed amid the storm or crisis.
Are you feeling defeated and overwhelmed? Release the tension and RELAX! Throw the punch as God directs and watch the enemy flee. He is already defeated, get him out of your space.
One last thing the trainer taught me, “Don’t let your opponent see you sweat—keep pretending.”
We are victorious in Christ Jesus! Fake-out the enemy even when you are unsure.
My latest book, “Relax and Receive,” has nuggets that will remind you to rest in God and receive all that He has for you. Copies can be purchased on Amazon or carethacrawford.com.
Pray…
Lord, I know I am victorious in You, help me to remain relaxed and vigilant. Thank You, amen.
