“…Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.”
(Zechariah 4:6 NKJV)
We sing the song “Don’t Do It Without Me” by Bishop Paul Morton, and it arouses our spirits and hurls petitions to God. We are asking God not to move in this current season without us. God’s desire is for us to participate in whatever He is doing in the earth. But, are we ready to join Him in His work? God might have used us in past seasons, but that’s no indication that we are prepared for the next move of God.
Pastor Sarah Jakes (The Potter’s House) ministered a beautiful and impactful message a few Sundays ago, “The Ending of An Era.” I believe this message resonated with many of us because it confirmed what we know to be true. Our customary life is coming to an end, not just in the natural but also in the spiritual. The uncertain and challenging days that we are experiencing bear witnesses to this fact.
While we are in this state of oscillation—fluctuating back and forth, God doesn’t want His people to be lulled asleep. These days should be our most active time of spiritual involvement. We should have our ears tuned to God like never before. There is a war going on in the heavenly much like the days of Daniel. Remember, Daniel’s prayer request was intercepted by the Prince of Persia until Michael the Archangel overthrew him? (Daniel 10:13)
What does God need us to do in this season? He needs us to bombard heaven through warfare prayers, warfare dances, warfare worship, and warfare praise. A new era follows this present time of chaos. In the chaotic past, God Himself danced over the troubled waters, and the earth came into alignment, making way for God to create the heavens and the earth. He merely spoke, “Let there be light; and there was light.” God is ready to do it again. He wants to speak light into the spiritual conditions of the earth. But, unlike the first time that He brought order out of chaos, God needs our participation.
“Don’t Do It Without Me” was our request to God. He is not going to do it without our involvement. God’s coming move calls for more of our commitment, discernment, purity, love, thoughtfulness, and faith than past times. We can’t be selfish, unkind, envious, and hypocritical in this new era and expect God to use us. God’s next move is not a move of the flesh. It will not be hindered by carnality, human traditions, denominationalism, culture, or customs. Humans will be involved, but God will be in charge. The things we depended on in days gone by will not prop us up in the days ahead. The theatrics, gifts, bank accounts, charisma, and associations will not be trustworthy.
The coming era will be a season of separation between those whose hearts are totally surrendered to God and those who are marginally involved. Those of us who are preparing for God to move is sensitive to the times. We are spending quality time with God in prayer, meditation, worship, reading His word, sharpening our gifts, and searching our hearts for offenses. Most importantly, we are being obedient to what we hear the Spirit saying.
Don’t be bewitched! God is not mocked.
Pray,
Lord, I humble myself and submit to Your authority. I will do what it takes to be used of You in the coming era. Thank You for considering me for Your service. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
