“Whatever the Lord pleases He does, in heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deep places.” Psalm 135:6 NKJV

When there is turbulence in the earth and thedays are uncertain, there is something we can depend on to remain the same, the power and supremacy of our Lord.If there has ever been a time in our generation to recognize and lift God’s holy name, it’s now. When the enemy hears the praise of the Lord’s name, it frightens him and causes him to flee. He knows the authority inherent in this name.

David knew this principle; he lifted the name of the Lord to defeat Goliath. “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied” (1 Samuel 17:45).

The Scriptures tell us that the name of the Lord is a strong tower; and the righteous run into it and are safe. (Proverbs 18:10)

Beloved, our safety is in the name of our Savior. Many names depict His character, power, and supremacy. The names of the Lord reminds us of who He is and the authority He possesses. 

Sometimes we need to meditate on His names and build ourselves up in the most Holy faith, honoring the King of Glory. When we honor God, He goes to battle on our behalf the way He did for Jehoshaphat.

Let’s do our part and meditate on His names:

• Elohim – the Strong one (Genesis 1:1)
• El-Shaddai – the Almighty God (Genesis 17:1)
• El Elyon- the Most High God (Genesis 14:19)
• El Olam – the Everlasting God – the God of Eternity (Genesis 21:33)
• El Roi – the God who sees (Genesis 16:13)  
• Yahweh – the active, self-existent One (Genesis 4:1)
• Adonai (OT), Kurios (NT) – Lord, Master, Owner, which emphasizes the absolute authority of God.

As the song says, we can look all over, but we will never find anyone greater than our Lord. No matter what’s going on around us, whether it’s a few feet away or hundreds of miles from us, God is still the omnipotent sovereign God of the universe.

Take comfort in knowing that God is large and in charge of all matters that pertain to life and godliness. Run into His name and be safe.
