Lord, You are My Refuge, My Strength, and My Strong Tower
Heavenly Father, I thank You that I can come boldly before Your Throne to obtain mercy and find grace in this time of need. You are the only One who knows the depths of this virus situation and the only One who has the solution that will bring this pandemic to an end. I do acknowledge You as the sovereign and supreme God of the universe. You are the Master and Maker of all things, including humankind. You have given us instructions to govern our lives while here on earth; Your Bible. Father, forgive us for not following Your instructions. Because our flesh is weak, we do fall short of Your glory daily.
Thank You for being a forgiving and restoring God. Help us not to take Your grace for granted. Now that we are in the midst of this crisis, we ask for Your mercy. Please protect us like You said You would in Psalm 91. You promised us that if we abide in the secret place, You will shelter us under Your protective wings. You promised us that You would never leave us nor forsake us. You also said that if we, Your people, would humble ourselves, pray, seek Your face, and turn from our wicked ways, You would hear us, forgive our sins, and heal our land (2 Chronicles 7:14). The land (i.e., the earth and our bodies) needs healing. We are sick.
You are the only One who knows our hearts, so we are making the same request as David did in Psalm 139:23-24. [Search me O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the proper, (godly) way that will keep me on the right path throughout eternity.] Deal with our hearts, Lord. If the present situation is any reflection of our hearts, we are in trouble. You said that You wish above all things that we would prosper even as our soul prospers. You have a desire to see us do well. Sometimes, You have to show ourselves to ourselves.
Even though we have failed You Lord, please be merciful! We are asking that You look favorably on those who are placing themselves in the direct line of fire of this devastating virus. Please give special favor to the doctors, nurses, and all the medical professionals; the farmers, grocers, delivery men and women, our public workers; police, firefighters, EMTs, and so many others. Lord, please put a hedge of protection around them, cover them with Your blood, hide them from every plot, plan, and scheme of the evil one. Provide for their needs, encourage them, and surround them with Your grace and give them Your peace.
Those who are sick with the virus and other diseases, Lord, touch them with Your healing virtue. Let the healing balm of Gilead flow from the crown of their heads to the soles of their feet. Kill every malignant cell in their bodies and release health and wholeness. You said, by Your stripes, they were healed. Thank You for being our Jehovah Rapha, the God who heals us.
Lord, comfort those who are grieving the loss of loved ones. Wrap Your strong, loving arms around them and reassure them of Your presence and love for them. I pray that they don’t charge You foolishly, but they will look to You for solace.
Lord, keep the children at this time. Protect them and give them the discipline they need to continue studying and learning. Help them to obey their parents and guardians so they will not be a source of distraction and hindrance. Open up their understanding of godly things.
Lord, be with the elderly at this time; comfort them, provide for them, and protect them from the spirits of loneliness and despair. Lay them on someone’s heart to connect with them and reassure them that God has them on His mind.
Lord, help all of us to realize the seriousness of the times, not just the virus, but the perilous times that You forewarned of us in 2 Timothy 3:1-5. Help us not to have a form of godliness, but to experience Your power. Help us not to waste this precious time while we are separated from one another, physically, but to use it wisely. Let it be a time of productiveness and growth in our most holy faith.
Lord, we pray for those who lost their jobs. Please provide for them and help them to realize that You are their source.
Lord. Give our leaders wisdom and help them to lead justly and righteously. Remind them that You are their overseer and their Judge.
Lord, thank You for being our solid Rock. You are the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. Thank You for loving and caring for Your people. We know that You have us in the palms of Your hands. Therefore we do not have to despair during these unusual times. Thank You for equipping us for such a time as these.
We love You, Lord!
In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen!
