But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control, perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 2 Peter 1:5-7.
This year, 2020, seems to be a time of change. Have you taken note of this? Look around you; many things have changed or are changing. Change is inevitable. If there is going to be progress and growth— ideas, situations, and people must evolve.
The Scripture quoted above admonishes us to grow in all areas of our personhood. Growth is challenging for most of us because it means that we have to “Make Room for Growth.” When a woman becomes pregnant, her body immediately starts to prepare for the fetus by alerting the organs surrounding the uterus to shift and make space for a temporary occupant. Without room to expand, the baby would never develop to full term.
In the same manner, we cannot grow or mature spiritually, mentally, socially, emotionally, physically, or financially, if we don’t make room for growth. Growth calls for stretching and enlarging, which can be very uncomfortable.
These challenging and uncertain days that we are facing demand growth. We can prepare for growth and expansion by:
- Getting rid of old mindsets
- Upgrading old methods and ideologies
- Dumping the baggage and extra weights
- Evicting fear
- Striping off procrastination
- And Decluttering.
My beloved, growth is not an option if we are going to thrive during these perilous times. For sure it will not be easy but doable in Christ.
Lord, thank You for giving me the grace and courage to make the adjustments necessary to keep pace with this evolving world.
