“And be renewed in the spirit of your mind…” Ephesians 4:23
Our country (USA), celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. a few days ago. One of the things he is noted for is his “I Have a Dream” speech. Dr. King had a vision for his life, people of color, the country, and the world. He worked vigorously toward making his dream a reality.
Dr. King was so passionate about his dream that he put himself in harm’s way and was assassinated for trying to bring his dream to fruition.
I am still surprised when I hear people, both young and mature, say they don’t have a dream. It’s hard for me to comprehend a life without dreaming. Fulfilling dreams is my life’s pursuit. I have had dreams all of my life and I work tenaciously toward achieving them.
Even though some people say they are non-dreamers, they do have a dream-seed planted within. “I emphatically say this because God is a dreamer and He made us in His image. Before creation, God visualized the universe and spoke it into existence. The first two chapters of the Bible bears proof of this. God saw the earth and it had no form; it was void and filled with darkness. So “God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1-1-2).
God visualized (had a dream) and produced the world and all that is consists of: the galaxies, planets, sun, moon, and stars. He also made vegetation and the animals, but His master creation was humankind. God decided to make us (male and female) in His likeness and image, which means He created humankind with the capacity and ability to dream. Not only were we created to dream, but we were also created to dream big. Why? Because our God is a big dreamer and we follow in His footsteps.”[1]
I have several questions for your consideration:
Do you have a dream? If not, what is hindering you from dreaming?
What are you doing to make your dream come to reality?
What are you willing to give up to achieve your dream?
God has given us the privilege of a new year and a new decade, an opportunity to start dreaming or working toward dream(s) fulfillment.
God showed Joseph, my favorite Bible character, the dreams that were embedded in him, thus a nation was saved from destruction. The dream planted in you could be the answer to a life-altering situation. Ask God to unearth your dream(s) or give you the passion to work toward dream fulfillment.
According to Walt Disney, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”
Pray…
Lord, You have put dreams on the inside of me, reveal them to me? I want to fulfill my dreams and reason for being. Thank You for giving me the strength and passion to dream.
