Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.
—Proverbs 13:12
During these uncertain and spiritually dark days, many (even in the body of Christ) are bewildered, frustrated and have a sense of hopelessness because they have no understanding or knowledge of what is really happening.
Why does it seem like the promises of God are so far off? Will I ever get my “breakthrough?” Will the sun shine again? Why do I have to suffer through lack or just enough? These questions and more are questions that many people are pondering. However, there is good news! No matter what it looks like, God is always at work putting the pieces together for our next season.
God gave me a powerful message a few years ago for the body of Christ, which I entitled, “There is Hope Even in the Midst of Darkness.” This message is designed to enlighten, encourage, and empower God’s people.
Instead of being confused and saddened by these dark days, we in the body of Christ should be rejoicing; God is up to His best work. It seems as though God waits until the world is at its darkest and has exhausted its remedies before He shoots His best shot (so to speak).
Rather than dwelling on our circumstances, let’s ponder on this thought; new life, new beginnings, new ideas, new opportunities, and new revelations spring from darkness. Let me illustrate this point.
A mother-to-be carries a fetus in her womb for nine months. Gestation, the developing of the embryo, is taking place in total darkness. The child’s vital organs; the lungs, heart, kidney, bladder, pancreas, and other organs that the child needs to function in the outside world is growing and developing in darkness. Without the time spent in darkness, the child would not be able to function in the light. Thus, new life springs from darkness!
During this season of darkness, God is developing us. He is refining our character, our strength, our abilities, our skills, our determination, and our spiritual muscles. God knows that we need to be fully developed to meet the challenges of this evil day and to fulfill the assignments He has ordained for each of us.
Don’t grow weary, there is HOPE even in the midst of darkness? Don’t despise these dark days my child…darkness precedes new life, new hopes, and dreams.
Pray…
Lord, help me to recognize that darkness has its value. Give me the strength to believe You and Your Word even in the midst of the darkest days. Thank You for the new place that I will be in when I see the light again! Amen.
