Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God. Hebrews 6:1 (NKJV)
A crowd had gathered around Jesus and His disciples while He was teaching life-lessons. He took His Master-Class text from Matthew 6:25-34, “Why Worry?”
This class was taught by our Savior thousands of years ago, but for some reason, “Why Worry” is still trending. Could it be that the people of God haven’t learned to relax and depend on Him for all of their necessitates?
Jesus’ methodology was simplistic. He asked His students to observe the little birds while they were eating the crumbs that had fallen to the ground. “…See how they feast and they neither sow grain nor reap the harvest, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Who do you think is more valuable, you are these little birds?”
Then He directs their attention to the lilies of the field. “Do you see the lilies fretting about what they will wear? They are dressed more royally than kings. They are here today and gone tomorrow, yet your heavenly Father cares about their appearance.”
How simple is that?
If God cares for the little creatures who seem to “chill” every day, why wouldn’t He provide for His children who are the apple of His eye?
It concerns God that His people don’t trust Him for their basic needs. When we become anxious and troubled about our provisions, it sends negative vibes into the atmosphere. The world then sees God as a neglectful Father.
My sisters and brothers, trusting God for our basic needs, is an elementary principle of our salvation. “Why are you still worrying?” Let’s learn to trust God not in word only, but from the depth of our hearts.
God wants us to move on from this space. His desire is for His children to mature in the faith so that He can trust us with weightier matters.
Are you still there—worrying about things you can’t control?
Pray…
Lord, You have challenged me today. I have to admit that I do worry instead of placing my concerns on Your shoulder. Help me and give me the strength to mature in my faith and to rely on You for all of my provisions. Please forgive me for the many times that I didn’t trust You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Comments are welcomed.
