Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
Matthew 6:25-27 NKJV
Even when snow blankets the earth, God still feeds the little bird. If God is so thoughtful to make provision for His small creatures, what makes you think He has forgotten about you?
Many have smiles on their faces, but they’re still worrying about things they cannot control. God admonishes us not to worry about tomorrow, because we have all we can handle in this day called today. Tomorrow will take care of its own troubles. Trouble will be in our tomorrow, but God is already there with the solution for every situation. So, RELAX and RECEIVE what God has for you today. Besides, who knows whether we will live to see tomorrow—another day.
In the Washington DC area the snow is slowly covering the earth with a beautiful white blanket. I don’t see any birds scurrying for food or shelter. They seem to be enjoying their present condition. Take some notes from these little creatures and trust God has made provisions for all of your concerns. Worrying will not add any value to your life, but it certainly can cause negative repercussions.
Since God has granted us a sabbatical, a time of REST and RELAXATION, why not use it wisely and reflect on His love, grace, and kindness.
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:34 NKJV).
Pray…
Lord, help me to rely on You for all of my needs including the answer to my troubles.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

What an appropriate blog for today! I am learning to embrace rest as a means of refueling and refocusing my energy in the direction that God wants me to go. It’s not easy sometimes but looking out at the snow and considering this blog helps to settle and quiet my spirit to receive instruction from the Lord. Thank you for reminding me to consider the little birds and look to my loving Heavenly Father as the source of all that I need for every day as I take one day at a time.
You are welcome, Pastor Franks! What a lovely thought.Sacred Rest is so necessary.
