For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. (Proverbs 23:7 NKJV)
Thinking is efficacious. Thoughts that we conceive in our mind drive our actions according to Proverbs 23:7. We become what we think, or we act upon that which we produce in our heads. God makes this point unquestionable in Genesis 11:6 when “They” were discussing the building of The Tower of Babel. “The Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them.” Who can say it better than God?
If evil works can be achieved by way of our thoughts, good deeds can also be accomplished through our thinking. An excellent example of this was realized in Nehemiah 4. Nehemiah lead a building program that was completed in record time while facing opposition because “…the people had a mind to work” (v.6).
Can you see why we are admonished to renew our minds? God is the only one who knows what we are capable of.
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings” (Jeremiah 17:9)
Scriptures to ponder:
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2 NASB).
“… And that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind…” (Ephesians 4:23 NASB).
We can achieve the great things that God has placed in our hearts…just think (meditate) on them!

Wonderful blog! I love the photo of the man thinking! Our thought life is vitally important and I, for one, have a battle with my mind! Thank you for encouraging me to be renewed today in the “spirit of my mind.” I have found that my thinking affects everything in my life!
Thanks, Pastor Franks! This truly came from the heart of God. I think most of us battle with our thought life. I know I do.
