I love to travel. My travels have taken me to some of the most beautiful places in the world. I have admired the expanse of the Grand Canyon, dined atop the Eiffel Tower, stared in wonderment at the Palace of Versailles, was awestricken by the Pyramids of Egypt, gazed at the statue of David and the Colosseum in Rome, sailed on the Sea of Galilee, walked the Via Dolorosa, crossed the London Bridge, viewed the snow cap mountains of Switzerland, heard the rumblings of the ice glaciers in Alaska, enjoyed pineapple from the fields of Hawaii and traveled by gondola in Venice. Italy. All Amazing…Awesome!
My recent travels took me to West Palm Beach, Florida. On Monday, as I was standing in line to board the 737 operated by Southwest Airlines with a scheduled flight to Baltimore, I couldn’t help but think of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz when she tapped her heels together three times and repeated, “There’s no place like home!” I had to agree with Dorothy, as delightful as traveling can be, home is still the sweetest place to land.
Home is designed to be a safe and inviting place. It gives one the sense of belonging. When we tell our guest to “make yourself at home,” we generally mean, make yourself comfortable, be at ease in my home. As endearing as this invitation is, there is another welcome that supersedes it—the reception that we will receive when we are greeted by our heavenly Father into His eternal home. Assuredly, it will be a secure and cozy place where we can RELAX and be free of the cares of our earthly homes.
Not that anyone is in a hurry to get there, but from time to time we need to be reminded that this world is our temporary residence. Let’s wear it loosely. I will rephrase Dorothy’s exclamation, “There’s no place like our eternal home.”
“For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” 2 Corinthians 5:1

I love this “Dorothy”.(::)talking about this earthly home and our Heavenly Home reminds me of this Building we Have Not Made by hands. Love and enjoy your writings.. Hope to see you in November.
