But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control, perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 2 Peter 1:5-7.
This pericope admonishes us to grow in all areas of our personhood. Growth is challenging for most of us because it means that we have to “Make Room for Growth.” When a woman becomes pregnant, her body immediately starts to prepare for the fetus by alerting the organs surrounding the uterus to shift and make space for a temporary occupant. Without room to expand, the baby would never develop to full term.
In the same manner, we cannot grow or mature spiritually, mentally, socially, emotionally, physically or financially, if we don’t make room for growth. Growth calls for stretching and enlarging, which can be very uncomfortable.
However, these challenging and uncertain days that we are currently experiencing and will intensify in the future demands growth…so start making preparation for expansion by:
- Getting rid of old mindsets
- Upgrading old methods and ideologies
- Dumping the baggage that weighs you down
- Evicting fear
- Striping off procrastination
- And Decluttering
My beloved, growth is not an option in this season if we are going to survive the days ahead. Moreover, it’s undoubtedly imperative if we are going to thrive during these perilous times. We must be mature!
