As a child, I despised the idea of visiting the doctor. Why? I associated doctors as someone who inflicted pain with needles. Personally, I don’t know of anyone who takes pleasure in pain. Enjoy it or not, pain is a necessary ingredient of life that everyone should appreciate. After all, it’s just a light affliction that has many benefits. Let’s take a look at 5 selling points for pain.

Pain alerts us that something is awry in the body.

Pain warns us of danger.

Pain can cause us to choose a different or more favorable course of action.

“Before I was afflicted I went astray, But now I keep Your word.” (Psalm 119:67)

Pain can result in favor with God and increased territory.

“And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.” (1 Chron, 4:9)

Pain is the medium through which people and visions are birthed. 

“To the woman He said: “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; in pain you shall bring forth children…” (Genesis 3:16)

Yes, we suffer pain in the natural; however, it does have eternal value. And guess what? Pain won’t last always. God has promised that He, “…will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)

There is a sweeter side to pain!
