It’s effortless to say; I am trusting the Lord. “I trust Him with my daily life and the outcome of all my circumstances.” Yes, it’s easy to say, however, lip service will always be tested. On many occasions, the things that we are experiencing, whether desirable or undesirable are just a test.
This past weekend we experienced another outstanding family reunion. Our reunions are always a time of having fun, fellowshipping with cousins, and catching up on the latest happenings. Of course, all of this fun and laughter had to come to a close, and we had to return to our daily routine. As usual, we concluded the reunion activities with prayer. We prayed for the needs and concerns of the family as well as our safe travels back to our destinations.
This year the reunion was held in Maryland. We had family members travel from as far as Honolulu, Hawaii, Los Angeles, California, New York, Florida and North and South Carolina. One of the cousins from North Carolina who had to return to work the day following the reunion was quite agitated when the traffic tested her patience on her journey back home. It’s not unusual for 95 South to come to a crawl on Sunday afternoons.
What she didn’t realize while she was being impatient and wanting the traffic to open up and allow her to zoom her way through, was God was answering the prayer that had been prayed. “Lord, take us back to our destinations safely. Keep Your angels around us and cover us with Your blood.” God heard the prayer and was answering the prayer. He knew that a storm was raging in the city where her parents lived. Her parents were passengers in her vehicle. The storm was so destructive that properties were being destroyed.
God’s hand was in this situation. He was keeping my cousins safe, out of harm’s way, by allowing traffic congestion on the highways. If it had not been for this heavy traffic, they would have driven right into the path of the storm. Who knows what might have happened to them, but God!
My beloved, every situation, whether it seems reasonable, bad or indifferent has its purpose. We say that we trust God, but do we really? Even when we can’t see God’s hand moving in our circumstances, can we trust that He has the situation under control?
Let’s learn to relax and allow God to navigate us through the unforeseen and inconvenient occurrences in our lives.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Thank you for the encouraging blog! Trusting the Lord is an ongoing challenge in my life but I know that HE knows what is best! Praise the Lord for keeping us safe even when we don’t know or realize it. He’s truly a “good, good Father!” I chose to trust Him today.
You are welcome, Pastor Franks. I think all of us are challenged in the area of trusting God fully.
What a beautiful message. Trusting the Lord is so very important in our lives. He guides us along life’s pathways. We should trust Him no matter the circumstance to bring us through.
Thanks so much, Dora!
