Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you.
Proverbs 4:25
When we visit our doctors or other medical professionals, they usually peek into our eyes. No matter what the reason for our visit, they check our eyes because they understand that much can be revealed about our health and well-being through the eyes. During this part of the exam, my doctor usually moves her finger or some other object in front of my face from side to side. She asks me to focus on it as she moves it. She doesn’t want me looking around the room, but to look fixedly at the object in motion.
This is precisely how we must manage our lives if we are to accomplish our goals or complete our mission in life. We have to keep our eyes fixed on them. It is so easy to be distracted and drawn away to things that we had not planned. They range from that which seems more attractive and exciting, to someone else’s urgencies. Nonetheless, we fall prey to shifting our gaze from what we had previously planned.
Even a determined person like myself can be a casualty to distractions. I made up my mind to become an avid blogger for a season. My goal was to write at least 52 blog posts; one for each week of the year. It wasn’t always easy and distractions raised their ugly head, but with God’s grace, I can see the finish-line. My initial thoughts weren’t necessarily to write a book, but later, I decided, why not put these thoughts in a book so they can be a blessing to those outside my circle.
With that being said, I am excited to announce the birthing of my fourth book —RELAX and RECEIVE, God’s Word for You – A 52-Week Devotional of Meditative Thoughts for Spiritual Renewal. I am looking forward to the book launch in late Spring.
It took a “made up mind” and the grace of God, to complete this project. But have no fear, my weekly posts are not vanishing. We have more food for your meditative thought coming your way. The apostle Paul penned it best when he declared, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58).
I will sing like the psalmist David, when he was fleeing from Saul, “My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast: I will sing and give praise” (Psalm 57:7).
Declare…
My heart is fixed and my eyes are securely fastened upon the missions and goals that have been assigned to me.
