Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31
Even though those who know me intimately would say that I should sign up for an episode of “Hoarders,” if you were to walk into my home on most days as a guest, you would think that you had opened the pages of “Good Housekeeping” or “Better Homes and Garden” magazine. Why the dichotomy? It’s because I only allow guests on the first level of my home-the area that is typically presentable.
There are areas of my home that are off limits to guests, especially my basement. If I fell sick down there, I would gather enough strength to crawl up the steps before allowing a guest or stranger to rescue me. Why? Because I would be too embarrassed for them to see how cluttered it has become. I have multiple hobbies that require lots of materials, machinery and supplies. Besides, when I am in the zone or under pressure due to a deadline, who has time to put things back in its proper place? Ugh!
Sad to say, for many of us, our spiritual, mental and emotional lives resemble my home, presentable only on the surface. If someone were to ask, “how are you doing?” More than likely the answer would be, “fine,” knowing that our spiritual, mental or emotional state is a wreck. And let’s not mention our financial standing, many of us don’t have enough credit to bargain our way out of a thrift store.
Too many Christians live lives that are bankrupt and chaotic, just out of control. This needs to change! We need to be brighter lights in this dark and confused world. Will you make a decision to be better stewards in all areas of your life? While I am getting my basement out of Hoarders condition, will you restructure and repair the areas of your life that need to be reassessed and realigned?
Remember, the Lord said, there would be big changes in 2018. I am sure you never thought the change would begin with your personal life. It must! God cannot add or multiply where there is chaos and confusion. Even in Genesis 1, God brought order out of chaos before He set the galaxies in motion and breathed His breath into mankind.
All of us have something that needs attention. No one is “whole.” Let’s give God our best in 2018 and beyond. He deserves it! I will do my very best. I don’t want you to see me on reality TV. Do you want the secret places of your life exposed on CNN? I didn’t think so. So, let’s do an intervention on ourselves and give God what He deserves.
This might require enlisting an accountability partner to keep you on track. If you are serious about making changes and making room for what God has in store for you, you will do whatever it takes.
See you at the finish line!
Declare…
With the help of the Holy Spirit, and my accountability partner, I will live a clutter-free life in 2018 and beyond. I will bring my life into alignment with God’s will for my life. I will enjoy every blessing He has for me.

I have read practically all of your Hump Day blogs without leaving a comment, but this one really caused me to reflect more seriously than before. I had been musing about the coming year without actually focusing on just what I would do. I will be more intentional, now that I have read your blog.
Thanks! Have a blessed new year. Keep up the good work.
Love
I am glad to know it was a blessing to you.
You are welcome.
