“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Joshua 24:15
In this age of compromise, lies and deceit, it has become more difficult to find individuals, groups or organizations who will stand for “absolute truth.” Absolute truth is not popular and it seems that many would rather be popular or thought well of, rather than stand in the power of “Truth.”
In my travels, and I travel frequently, I often hear, “Well, I am evolving.” There is nothing wrong with evolving. Everyone should be growing, maturing and changing as a result of acquired and experiential knowledge. However, we should be evolving into deeper clarity of truth and not trying to find ways to compromise truth.
We are certainly living in a corrupt age and society. It seems that so many in top level leadership positions from government to the church are looking for loop-holes; ways to circumvent the system in their favor. It baffles my mind how men and women of the cloth can conscientiously put greed for money and power before God, knowing at best, it’s only a temporary gain.
On occasions, I will watch an episode of “American Greed.[1]” This show documents crimes and reveals just how far people will stoop for money and power. They don’t care who they hurt or harm as long as they get what they want. I watched an episode recently that involved a pastor and his wife. They lived a deceitful life, one that did not represent Christ. They deceived their congregation, family and friends. Yes, they lived large for a season, but it cost them dearly.
Moses, once asked the question, “Whoever is on the LORD’s side, come to me” (Ex 32:26)! Elijah wanted to know, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him” (1 Kings 18:21). Jesus taught that, “No man can serve two masters…you cannot serve God and mammon (that is riches)” (Matt 6:24). Joshua declared, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).
What are your convictions? Are you willing to sacrifice and lay everything down for the cause of Christ? Are you willing to live a life that glorifies God? Will you be numbered with the remnant or will you compromise what you know to be “absolute truth” for the sake of the riches and pleasures of this world? The choice is yours!
Listen to the warning voice that cries out in 1 John 2:15-16, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”
Knowing that the world and all of its riches are passing away, why would you attach yourself to it for temporal gain?
It’s Time to Take a Stand for Right and Righteousness! Do you agree?
