Many in the body of Christ are wondering “when is it going to be my time” or “when is it going to be my turn?” They are waiting on the fulfillment of the personal promises God made to them. From their human perspective, it seems as though it has been a long time since God made the promises, yet there is no manifestation.
The modern or contemporary mind is no different from the minds of old. Our forefathers also suffered from impatience. Impatience seems to be intrinsic in our human nature. God didn’t move fast enough for Abraham and Sarah either. Since He didn’t give them Isaac, the promised child, on their schedule, they devised their own plan and produced an Ishmael, a child of the flesh, which not only became a grief to them but the modern world as well. (Genesis 16)
The prodigal son is another very good example of impatience. (Luke 15:11-32) He requested his inheritance from his father before he was mature enough to handle it. The father granted the son his request knowing it would cause the son shame and disgrace. Yes, the son squandered his inheritance.
The psalmist reminds us that our times are in God’s hand (Psalm 31:15). God knows when we and the circumstances are ready for us to receive the promise with joy and not with regret, shame or grief. A good thing in the wrong season can be dangerous or lethal.
So continue to wait on God’s timing—He knows what’s best for you! While holding on, meditate on these Scriptures:
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. (Ecc 3:1)
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19)
While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. (Genesis 8:22)
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. (Galatians 6:9)
