Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us…
Ephesians 3:20
Sometimes, we are disappointed when things don’t turn out the way we had hoped that they would. We prayed for a certain promotion, but it didn’t materialize. We had our heart set on buying what we thought was the perfect home for the family, but someone else closed the deal. We were praying and hoping for a healing of a chronic illness, but God said, “My grace is sufficient for you.” I guess these could be considered disappointing moments.
Many times, when God is trying to get something to us or through us, He has to close a door or reroute us. The Scriptures declare, “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps” (Proverbs 16:9).
I can imagine that Joseph was disappointed when he found out that Mary, his espoused wife, was expecting a child. He knew he wasn’t the father of the child. However, he still loved and respected Mary, even though it seemed that she had been unfaithful to him. As you know, he had made a decision to put her away privately to keep her from suffering the consequences of being stoned to death. That was the punishment for an unwed mother during biblical days.
Joseph didn’t realize or understand at the time, that “God Had More” for him. God’s plan was not to shame or harm him, but to reveal to him, his destiny. Not only was Mary’s life turned upside down, but so was Joseph’s, when the angel, Gabriel, made the announcement that Mary’s womb would nurture the Christ child.
During the betrothal period, Joseph traveled back to his home to prepare a place for his new bride. I’m sure his plans were to prepare a simple home for a Nazareth family. He would use his carpentry skills to provide for them. Life would be that of an ordinary peasant family. “But, God Had More” in mind for them. It had already been recorded in the annals of heaven, that Joseph would forever be known as the earthly father of the Christ child. His assignment exemplified Ephesians 3:20, because it was far above anything that Joseph could conceive in his mind.
Likewise, while you are looking forward to an ordinary straight-line life, God is about to turn your world upside down. Get ready for a “different world and a different you in 2018!” God has more in mind for you than you can imagine. He hid it for such a time as this.
Since you have been warned, don’t do like Joseph and try to hide what God is about to reveal, thinking it’s not for you. Accept that it’s from God. God knows you can handle it, that’s why He assigned it to you. You might not be as famous as Mary and Joseph, but your assignment will make an indelible mark in the history of mankind.
And, those so-called disappointments that you are experiencing, are just closed doors to reroute you on your road to destiny. Get ready for a change, a “BIG” change in 2018!
Please Note: This is a prophetic word from God.
Pray…
Lord, I have made plans for my life, but I am willing for Your plans to supersede mine. I am willing to accept the assignment that You have designed for me. Please, give me the eyes to see and the discernment to know that’s it’s from You. Thank You, Lord, for this appointment!
